The Terrassa City Council, in collaboration with Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering of Terrassa (BarcelonaTech) and the UNESCO Chair on Sustainability, organized the 2nd Women, Science and Technology Conference (WSCITECH21) on 25 and 26 March 2021.
Alisa Petroff and Marta Roqueta-Fernàndez, members of the Gender and ICT research team, gave two presentations in the round tables on “Communication and Spreading” and “Science and Technology”, respectively.
Marta Roqueta-Fernàndez’s talk analysed the OECD’s 2015 recommendations for the promotion of STEM careers among girls, with the title “Female engineers to reduce the pay gap: the limits of the financial focus of promoting STEM careers among girls”. Alisa Petroff presented preliminary results of her research on the challenges and opportunities for women participating on crowdsourcing platforms in the digital economy’s tech sectors.
