Postdoctoral Researcher at GenTIC from 2015 to 2018
José-Luis Martínez-Cantos is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied, Public, and Policy Economics at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Applied Sociology at the Complutense University of Madrid and a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the GenTIC group at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) of the UOC from 2015 to 2018. He developed his doctoral studies in the Department of Applied Economics V at Complutense, under the supervision of Cecilia Castaño, and at the Department of IT at the Copenhagen Business School.
He has authored a dozen articles published in indexed journals and has contributed to at least another ten academic books and chapters. Additionally, he has participated in several research projects and social policy evaluations at both national and international levels. Among them, his direction of the study “Nuestras Vidas Digitales” [Our Digital Lives] stands out, commissioned by the Spanish Institute of Women and the Spanish National Observatory of Telecommunications and the Information Society.
His research primarily focuses on gender gaps in relation to digital technologies. Also, it addresses intersectional inequalities in the labour market, educational trajectories, and scientific careers.
