The Gender and ICT research group, in collaboration with the Unitary Platform against Gender Violence (PUCVG), is pleased to invite you to a public seminar to share key findings from the project ‘Feminicide Data’. Funded by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD) and led by GenTIC’s director Milagros Sáinz as principal investigator, this research project has explored the experiences of state and citizen-led feminicide observatories across Europe and Latin America.

When: September 17, 2025
Time: 15:00 h – 18:00 h (Barcelona time)
Where: UOC Campus – Building C (Room C0.6, ground floor – Rambla del Poblenou, 154, Barcelona)
Languages: Catalan and Spanish (no simultaneous translation)
Registration: This event is free and open to anyone interested. To participate, please, register here.

During the seminar, Milagros Sáinz will present and discuss the conclusions of a year-long research project that has analysed multiple case studies to better understand existing information systems and how feminicide is defined by both governmental and non-governmental actors in various countries. We will also listen to guest speaker Patsilí Toledo, member of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and associate professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, who will speak on data and prevention strategies against feminicide violence.

The program includes a roundtable discussion with experts from different countries on the challenges of collecting and analysing data on feminicides and its impact on eradicating violence against women worldwide, with contributions from: Cristina Fabra (European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE)), Graciela Atencio (Feminicidio.net), Carol Rojas (Observatorio de Feminicidios de Colombia, Republicanas Populares), Celia Santos (Head of the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, Spanish Ministry of Equality), Alejandra Valdés (Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA)), and Rolando Crespo (UN Women Colombia).

The opening and closing remarks of the seminar will be delivered by Maria Olivella-Quintana, Director of the UOC’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Unit, and Manel Jiménez-Morales, UOC Vice-Rector for Alliances, Community and Culture.
