Ada Lovelace Day (ALD) is an international celebration held every year on the second Tuesday of October which aims at making visible and vindicating the role and achievements of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

On the occasion of this year’s celebration, the director of GenTIC, Milagros Sáinz, is participating in a round table organized by Medialab Prado to discuss the challenges for reducing the gender gap in scientific and technological fields and possible initiatives to tackle the underrepresentation of women in STEM.

Together with Milagros Sáinz, the round table comprises speakers such as Celia Santos Tapia, co-founder of Noies al lab!, an organisation dedicated to encourage the interest of girls in scientific and technological careers and make female referents visible in science, and Vicky Cortés, co-organizer of PyLadies Madrid, an initiative oriented at motivating women to be active participants of the open-source Python community.

When: 8 October 2019; 18:30 – 20:30

Venue: CiCiLab
