OPEN DATA PORTAL AND RESEARCH ON THE INCIDENCE OF OCCUPATIONAL SEGREGATION IN THE PREVALENCE OF COVID-19 FROM A GENDER INTERSECTIONAL APPROACH
This project aims at analysing how gender inequalities in the job market – in particular occupational segregation – influence the prevalence of COVID-19. The initiative is funded by the Catalan Agency for Health Quality and Assessment (AQuAS) and has been selected in an urgent call as one of the 15 priority proposals for research in data analytics on the incidence of SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19 in Catalonia.
The Data COVID Gender project is coordinated by GenTIC researcher Lídia Arroyo as principal investigator and is developed in collaboration with the Barcelona Open Data Initiative. Of the 15 projects selected by AQuAS through the PADRIS programme, only three, including Data COVID Gender, analyse COVID-19 from a social sciences perspective. The project includes both data analytics and sharing of open data. GenTIC will carry out a research study to analyse and present data from the Catalan Health System considering the incidence of SARS-CoV-2 and Covid-19 in relation to gender inequalities and occupational segregation. Barcelona Open Data Initiative will collaborate with UOC to create an open data portal, an online repository that will make the available information accessible to the public and easy to interpret. Finally, the Data COVID Gender project has promoted the #COVIDGenderArchive on the internet portal GenPORT, where everyone can consult and share all types of open resources on gender and COVID-19.
