EFFECTS AND EFFECTIVENESS OF INTERVENTIONS AIMED AT INCREASING YOUNG WOMEN’S INTEREST IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The purpose of this research project is to analyze the effect of a series of interventions oriented to improve and increase the interest of girls in scientific and technological subjects and occupations.

To this effect, GenTIC will carry out a meta-analytical study on the content and effectiveness of several interventions implemented to reduce the gender gap in scientific and technological areas. Furthermore, during the project, we will replicate three interventions originally developed in the context of the United States and strongly supported by theoretical models, which aimed at increasing women’s participation in scientific and technological fields.

The results will allow defining key recommendations in order to solve the main challenges linked to the low motivation of girls for scientific and technological subjects and occupations. These recommendations will result in the design of academic and professional orientation programs with a gender perspective, addressed to secondary education students.
